History

Bare Truck Center, formerly Warner Motor Sales, has been serving the needs of truck customers in our area for 45 years.

In 1960, Robert Bare was working for S. L. Warner (a Mobile fuel oil distributor in Carroll County), when a zone representative for International Harvester called on Mr. Warner to see if he would consider and I. H. Motor Truck franchise. In his consideration of the proposal, Mr. Warner approached his employee, Robert Bare, with the opportunity to assume management. Accepting the challenge presented to this 37 year old farm boy was easy. And so, on January 8, 1960, a new truck dealership to be known as Warner Motor Sales began business with three employees, Mr. Bare, a parts man, and a mechanic.

After the untimely death of Mr. Warner, in 1965, Bob Bare accepted the additional challenge and purchased the company from the Warner heirs, changing the name to Bare Truck Center. As the years passed, the growth of the company forced a relocation in 1968, the company moved to its current facility located at 821 Baltimore Boulevard. Since then, Bare Truck Center survived its formative years and has continued to grow over its 35 year history. From the original three employees, the company now has 40+.

In 1986, Lewis M. Stoms, Jr. joined the sales department and, because of his interest, dedication, and knowledge, became Vice President and partial owner of the business. Then, in January 2002, with the announced retirement of Bob Bare, Lew acquired the company from Mr. Bare and became the President and Dealer Principal.

Idealease of Central Maryland was formed in 1990 to rent and lease trucks, and provide contract maintenance for our customers. The success of this company is attributed to the dedication of the Vice President, Rex Standon and the team of service & rental professionals.

Bare Truck has received numerous awards from Navistar for its outstanding performance and achievements. The dealership was nominated for the ATD truck dealer of the year in 1992. The coveted Circle of Excellence award has been received fifteen consecutive years, and additional awards for sales, service and overall dealership performance have been received.

Our dealership success over the past 45 years can be attributed to excellence in customer satisfaction, quality products, and the support and dedication of loyal employees. Our goal, to always put the customer first, has proved to be the most important asset of the company.

We are happy to be one of the small businesses in Carroll County which has contributed to its economic development, and we look forward to forging many more successful business relationships in the years ahead.
